During the last week of September, Children’s Day celebrated the school’s re-opening.

On September 24th and 26th, Children’s Day opened its doors- and playground- to over 65 friends, family, and current funders to celebrate the completion of our $3 million renovation project, with a Grand Re-Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. It was a beautiful day to celebrate!

Guests mingled and listened to speakers while Children’s Day staff served light refreshments. As the red ribbon fluttered to the ground, Children’s Day staff provided our guests with a first-hand look at the renovations- taking them on small-group tours of the school building and playground. Guests also learned about our school- hearing more details about the programs and services we provide our children and families.

During the celebration, the funders of the renovation, The Maher Charitable Foundation and The Henry and Marilyn Taub Foundation, spoke about their involvement in this project. Brian Maher focused on his Foundation's support of Children’s Day, and about the critical importance of early childhood education in the State of New Jersey. He praised the construction, management and funder team for the tremendous collaboration that occurred to make this dream of Children’s Day into a reality.  Marilyn Taub spoke about her Foundation’s support of the young children and families of Passaic, highlighting how Children’s Day works to meet the needs of the children in their care.  She spoke of the commitment needed to support each new generation as they start on their journey towards a quality education and success in our communities. Sue Dannemiller, Executive Director, expressed her gratitude to the funders, the construction team, community supporters, and her staff for their commitment through this long process of renovation.  She highlighted the transformation of the school, focusing on how this transformation has positively affected the children, families, staff, and community of Passaic.

Passaic’s Mayor, Hector C. Lora, and several other City officials attended as well- to celebrate Children’s Day and the commitment our Funders have made to the Passaic Community.  Mayor Lora spoke at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony about the longevity of Children’s Day, and our unwavering dedication to supporting and empowering multiple generations of Passaic’s young children.

Children’s Day was also thrilled to have media coverage for the event- NJTV’s Raven Santana and NJ News 12 were in attendance. Both news outlets produced a story that appeared on their nightly newscast about our re-opening celebration.

In addition to being excited about the renovation itself, Children's Day was most proud of the tremendous effort undertaken by the staff, business partners and our construction team.  The following friends and supporters of Children’s Day made this project a success- and they are forever grateful!
