MISSION, VISION, AND
VALUES
"Twenty
years from now you will be more disappointed by the things
you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the
bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade
winds in your sails.
Explore.
Dream. Discover."
~Mark Twain
Mission:
The mission of Children’s Day
Nursery and Family Center is to improve the quality of life
for at-risk children and their families through the seamless
delivery of child and family system driven programs that
respond to and respect diversity, culture, and unique needs.
Vision:
In the years to come,
Children’s Day Nursery and Family Center views itself as a
principal leader in an expansive community effort to empower
all children and families, regardless of the many barriers
they face, to thrive and succeed at home, at school, at
work, and in their community. We also see the promise of a
time when all children will enter the academic world equally
prepared, equally self-confident, and equally motivated to
learn.
Values and
Principles that Govern our Work:
The guiding principle in the
accomplishment of our mission is that the quality of early
childhood experiences greatly influences later life, and
that these experiences are best provided in a warm,
supportive environment, rich in opportunities and respectful
of each child's individuality, rate of development, and
cultural background.
Because Children's Day Nursery and Family Center embraces a
"family systems" approach to accomplish its mission, the
agency also invests some of its resources in direct parent
services and outreach efforts that have the capacity to
empower families to transcend community, school, and work
barriers.
"The
principal goal of education is to create men who are capable
of doing new things, not simply of repeating what other
generations have done."
~Jean Piaget
